Youth and Justice Congress 2017

Description YOU'RE INVITED to the Canadian Youth and Justice Congress 2017: Advancing Ideas, Evidence and Innovation to shape a Canadian perspective of youth justice! The Criminal Justice Association of Ontario in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Canadian Criminal Justice Association, will be hosting Congress 2017 at the Sheraton Toronto Centre Hotel on October 25-27, 2017.

The theme of Congress 2017 is Canadian Youth and Justice and plans are being developed for three days of discussion and exploration of the junctures between youth and the Canadian youth justice system. The Congress will highlight provincial practices, innovations, research and trends that are influencing change in the management of the youth justice system, preventative initatives and to provide a national perspective of youth related topics. An underlying movement of the conference will consider the expectations of the youth justice system within the context of a revisioned social justice network.

As part of our national sesquicentennial anniversary and our nation-wide inclusive plans we are striving to establish coast-to-coast participation and to provide programming that captures current topics such as: Indigenous-specific issues, child welfare cross-over youth, employment, sex trafficking, gang involvement, homelessness, FASD and mental health. Justice topics will include sentencing, custody, community programming, diversion and prevention initiatives.

Join us at Congress 2017 for an exciting opportunity to discuss and explore Canadian youth and the justice system!
